BRUNSWICK TO SPONSOR MAJOR AWARDS

The International Bowling Media Association is pleased to announce that Brunswick Bowling Brands will become the presenting sponsor of the IBMA Major Awards beginning with 2025. An agreement was recently inked to provide the symbolic awards for the eight major award winners: Luby Hall of Fame, Alberta E. “Brunswick is excited to partner with the International Bowling Media Association to support their annual awards program to honor outstanding achievements on and off the lanes. We believe it is important to continue the traditional of recognizing bowling performance, industry service, and media coverage for the bowling industry.” stated Brian Graham, Brunswick Vice President of Consumer Products.

"IBMA is grateful to Brunswick for this new partnership which truly elevates these awards," said IBMA President Mark Miller. "We look forward to presenting these honors next year at the USBC Convention in Las Vegas."

OFFICERS, DIRECTORS RE-ELECTED;

BOARD NUMBERS, QUORUMS REDUCED

ARLINGTON, Texas – All officers of the International Bowling Media Association have been re-elected to their positions for the 2024-2025 season.

Returning for a third year are Mark Miller of Flower Mound, Texas, as president, Kevin Hong of Seattle, Washington, as first vice president, Phil Brylow of Waukesha, Wisconsin, as second vice president and Sam Vasta of Milwaukee as sergeant-at-arms. All began their new terms Aug. 1.

Because a quorum was not present at the 2024 Annual Meeting in Denver, voting was completed among members of the board of directors by email afterwards.

Prior to the Annual Meeting, Miller, Brylow, Hong, Vasta, George Wooten of Columbus, Ohio, and Bill Zuben of Seminole, Florida, were elected to serve an additional two years on the board. Only six positions were available in this even-dated year following prior email approval of the reduction of the size of the board from 15 to 11 members. The same amendment approved five spots to be elected in odd years beginning in 2025.

Another email vote approved reduction of board and membership quorums at the Annual Meeting. Board quorums were changed to one officer and three directors or three officers or four board members. Previously, one officer and five directors constituted a quorum. Quorums for the general membership are now three directors and 10 members – down from five directors and 15 members.

All legislation addressed the organization’s shrinking membership and the higher cost of travel, making it harder for people to attend the Annual Meeting in person.
